happiness.

sneaking blogs, killing time, i stumbled into this.
taken from nasa's astronomy picture of the day website.

their explanation:
what are these humans doing? dancing. many humans on earth exhibit periods of happiness, and one method of displaying happiness is dancing. happiness and dancing transcend political boundaries and occur in practically every human society. above, matt harding traveled through many nations on earth, started dancing, and filmed the result. the video is perhaps a dramatic example that humans from all over planet earth feel a common bond as part of a single species. happiness is frequently contagious - few people are able to watch the above video without smiling.

where the hell is matt? (2008) from matthew harding on vimeo.

i'll take alex's words. feeling a bit sad because it's not me travelling around, simultaneously remembering some of those places which i've been to, i just felt the same insignificance when looking at pictures of outer space but most of all that happiness is countagious. i felt like jumping. or running. or just going away.

the meaning of life.

my love asked me the other day what is the meaning of life.
i began to tell her "the meaning of life should be to serve god" but it didn't quite match with the lobster we were lavishly eating.
"oh no, don't be absurd" she said, "it is most certainly to pursue happiness" but leibnitz came immediatly to our table in the form of a greasy aubergine to remind us, while we chewed him, that we already live in the best of possible worlds and thus to be happy would be to conform.
"this tomato is alive!!!" i screamed in despair adding that "it should be the best tomato on earth and it's just trying to survive".
i spat some of its seeds in the rocky sidewalk to help its genes in their struggle for existence while some locals approached to let us know that the meaning of life might well be giving them some change for beer.
"ya know what? why don't i print the whole thing and wrap you in it?" i said while buddha whispered in her ear that life is suffering.
"how about there is no meaning to life? there isn't even a meaning in that question!!!" she said firmly while hammering the lobster drowned in spaghetti.
"i'm happy with that as long as i take you home tonight", i told with her a shrug.
"okie", she smiled back.

Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?
D'où Venons Nous? Que Sommes Nous? Où Allons Nous?
De Onde Vimos? Quem Somos? Para Onde Vamos?
Woher Kommen Wir? Wer Sind Wir? Wohin Gehen Wir?
Από πού ερχόμαστε; Τί είμαστε; Πού πάμε;
Откуда мы пришли? Кто мы? Куда мы идём?
?מאין באנו? מה אנחנו? לאן אנו הולכים
Paul Gauguin, 1898
